HOOPS Publish 2020 Supercharges Creation of Richer Technical Data Packages

02.27.20

Newest version of HOOPS Publish simplifies process of creation and consumption of 3D PDF technical data packages by enabling embedded video, improved font and text management and converting 3D PDFs to HTML

February 27, 2020 – Bend, OR USA – Tech Soft 3D, the leading provider of development toolkits to the engineering software industry, today announces the release of HOOPS® Publish 2020, the toolkit for enabling applications to publish 3D data in multiple formats including native 3D PDF, HTML and several standard CAD formats, including STEP AP 242, JT and 3MF. HOOPS Publish 2020 now enables video embedding into a 3D PDF, as well as the ability to convert 3D PDF documents into HTML pages.

“We’ve invested a lot in simplifying the creation of rich engineering documents as well as making them easy to consume by anyone on any platform, and we do this while maintaining all the 3D PDF’s features and functionalities,” said Lionel Vieilly, HOOPS Publish Product Manager at Tech Soft 3D. “HOOPS Publish 2020 takes things even further by enabling content such as video to be added to a 3D PDF and giving users the ability to convert a 3D PDF into a single HTML document to be viewed in a browser. There is no better tool on the market to create rich, interactive documents like smart reports, work instructions, parts catalogs, design change notifications and more, without worrying about the document changing format or losing data.”

HOOPS Publish 2020 enables video to be embedded directly into a 3D PDF.

Embedding video into a 3D PDF is made possible through a new API, and HOOPS Publish 2020 also includes improvements in font and text management, allowing users to embed fonts or subsets of fonts in the PDF document so that the document will look exactly the same when consumed on any computer, independent of the locally installed fonts.

Significant improvements have been made to enable better document interactivity. HOOPS Publish 2020 now has the ability to generate monolithic HTML documents, where a 3D PDF can be converted into one HTML file without the need for external reference. The value in this function is that the HTML documents can be viewed and copied on any device, PC or mobile, and directly consumed in the browser without an Internet connection. For example, an architect or project manager can access BIM documents on a mobile device in buildings under construction without the need for the internet.

Technical Data Packages enable consumers to access 3D annotated models. In this context, 3D PDFs often include a list of Product Manufacturing Information (PMI), and HOOPS Publish 2020 provides an efficient means to view the selected PMI.

HOOPS Publish is being used by industry leaders, including Aras, SolidWorks, Theorem Solutions, PROSTEP, Tetra4D and many more to convert CAD data into interactive 3D PDF files.
