HOOPS Publish 2018 Unlocks 3D Data for More Efficient Consumption
SDK enables publishing of 3D data in formats such as native 3D PDF, HTML and a variety of standard CAD formats
March 5, 2017 – BEND, Oregon — Tech Soft 3D, leading provider of development toolkits to the engineering software industry, today announces the release of HOOPS® Publish 2018, the toolkit for enabling applications to publish 3D data in multiple formats for downstream consumption, including native 3D PDF, HTML and in several standard CAD formats, including STEP AP 242, JT and 3MF for 3D printing applications.
“One of the most critical uses of engineering data outside of engineering is for technical documentation,” said Eric Vinchon, VP of Technology at Tech Soft 3D. “Consumers of that content benefit from the access of up-to-date, accurate model information. The problem today is that the creation of this content is often manual and as a result both error prone and time consuming. HOOPS Publish solves that problem by giving software developers an SDK which allows them to write once and publish everywhere - to programmatically create rich, interactive documents like smart reports, work instructions, parts catalogs, design change notifications and more.”
HOOPS Publish can be used to create rich engineering documents by combining CAD geometry from standard CAD formats like STEP, IGES and JT with Product Manufacturing Information (PMI), annotations, views and metadata. These files can be used to deliver a fully annotated model for drawing-less manufacturing, a CMM report or a file ready for 3D printing. This data can be further enriched with tables, file attachments, bill of materials (BOMs), view lists, and text to create interactive 3D PDFs that can be understood by anyone, even non-CAD users.
Publishing to ISO standard file formats improves file interoperability and communication inside the engineering department, but also throughout the product development process whether it’s for export to 3MF for 3D printing for prototyping or supporting engineering review, change orders, inspection plans, reporting, creating work instructions, or archiving.
HOOPS Publish 2018 includes the ability to view and interrogate 3D in a web browser, full support for Linux, and STEP AP 242 export improvements. Users can add pictures and buttons to the PDF and also create layers to interactively change the layout of a PDF.
HOOPS Publish is being used by industry leaders to convert CAD data into 3D PDF files, including Aras, Actify, Theorem Solutions, PROSTEP and many more.
