HOOPS Communicator 2016 Dramatically Improves Performance with Large Models, Enables Development of Powerful, Scalable Browser-Based Solutions for Manufacturers
Toolkit for cloud-based applications features real-time streaming of model data, a highly scalable architecture to handle larger, more complex models, and improved graphics capabilities
Bend, OR, USA – February 24, 2016 – Tech Soft 3D today announces the release of HOOPS Communicator 2016, an easy-to-deploy developer toolkit that allows engineers to view and deeply integrate CAD data directly within their browser-based applications. Users will find that HOOPS Communicator has been completely revamped to support even the largest, most complex models with a high-performance and engineering-focused graphics kernel at its core. Other major enhancements include full streaming of model data, allowing for near instantaneous viewing and interacting with data-sets of all sizes as well as a highly scalable server architecture. Developers can also now author their own data directly with a new data authoring component.
HOOPS Communicator 2016 provides two main ways to stream data to the client. The first is intelligent streaming which requires no manual intervention while the second is selective, on-demand loading, which allows clients to initiate streaming of individual parts or subassemblies of a complex model or quickly display different assembly configuration on-the-fly. Streaming allows users to access models before they are completely loaded – a crucial time-saver when working with large and complex data sets.
The server component of HOOPS Communicator has been designed to facilitate a high degree of scalability and easy integration into any cloud architecture.
HOOPS Communicator’s new streaming file format enables data to be streamed efficiently to a web browser, including precise geometry data allowing users to interrogate the model and make exact measurements. A new data authoring library allows users to bring their own proprietary model data in the system, while support for “shattered” workflows gives the option to incrementally update complex assemblies.
“With HOOPS Communicator 2016, we reimagined what could be done with cloud-based engineering applications,” says Guido Hoffmann, HOOPS Communicator Product Manager. “HOOPS Communicator now combines sophisticated graphics performance, advanced streaming capabilities, and model editing functionality so that even demanding and large-scale data sets can be accessed and viewed on the web with speed and ease.”
