IMTS 2024 in Review

Harry Lees •
September 30th, 2024

IMTS 2024 has come and gone, with the event boasting a final count of 89,020 total registrants this year for the largest technology show in the Western Hemisphere.

The biennial event represents a chance for technology companies to present, learn from experts across dozens of industries, and interact with new and old partners and friends.

Here, we wanted to share some of our takeaways from this great experience – the people, technologies, businesses, and experiences that stood out to us most.

As always, one of the best parts of any event is seeing our partners in person, including Aegis, Maya HTT, Hexagon, Vention, VNTANA, Sigmetrix, Thermwood, and CloudNC. On the right, you can see us getting to meet with our friends at Xometry.

Cutting-edge technologies from Big Names

With NVIDIA’s explosion in the past year (the company is now valued at nearly an eye-watering $3 trillion USD), it's not surprising we saw many companies showcasing their collaborations with the graphics giant.

A partner of ours, Vention, discussed their collaboration with NVIDIA at their Demo Day presentation, along with updates to their manufacturing solutions.

With AI on the tip of everyone's tongues, they highlighted the new generative design capabilities of their MachineBuilder software. The Vention team also shared their next-gen MachineMotion AI, which enables PLC and robot devices alike to be programmed in the same environment, with a digital twin representing the simulation.

Additionally, Vention welcomed ABB GoFa Cobots to their ecosystem. The cobots are fully compatible with a wide array of Vention products, including those we previously mentioned, MachineAnalytics, and Remote Support.

We also had the opportunity to learn about Amazon Web Services’ IoT TwinMaker. This intriguing service can help organizations leverage the data they are already receiving from their devices to create digital twins of their processes, allowing for optimization of operations, increased output, and other efficiency increases. We are especially excited to see AWS partnering with Siemens, Maplesoft, and ANSYS for this project, all great partners of Tech Soft 3D’s.

There were quite a few IoT (Internet of Things) applications on display from a wide array of vendors, with many keen to highlight the role AI was playing in their software. These tools served a variety of use cases, from monitoring work and production progress to maintenance and machine status. Data-rich, IoT-informed applications and digital twins remain an exciting area of development to keep an eye on at shows like IMTS.

Hexagon’s Metrology was excited to showcase their Metrology Mentor, a product that utilizes both HOOPS Exchange and HOOPS Communicator. This Nexus app leverages PMI (product manufacturing information) data to automate the creation of inspection programs. Nexus is Hexagon's digital reality platform, which you can learn more about here.

Metrology Mentor is a SaaS product that offers an intuitive way for its users to easily create better CMM programs in line with professional standards, without human bias and mistakes. Other Hexagon tools that use Tech Soft 3D's HOOPS technologies include Inpsire, Spatial Analyzer, and Robotic Automation.

With all the innovative work our partners are doing, we encourage you to hear directly from them what it's like to work with Tech Soft 3D. You can read our Partner Success Stories, including one with Hexagon, or watch our video interviews with Xometry and Maya HTT below!

Our time at IMTS was fantastic this year. We saw familiar faces, made some great new connections, and enjoyed exploring the newest technologies the event had on display. We look forward to attending in two years.
