Automatic Feature Recognition Planned for Upcoming Polygonica Release

The upcoming release of Polygonica from MachineWorks Ltd, available from Tech Soft 3D, is set to include functionality for automatic feature recognition on polygonal solids.
When CAD models lose original surface data after tessellated into a mesh, this new capability uses the triangulated data to regenerate the original surface information including a feature's parameters, surface area, bounding box and error values. It can detect planes, spheres, cones, cylinder and torii, and query boundaries to determine which features are adjacent to others.
